Fruits of the Spirit

Think about a tree for a moment...all the nurturing, fertilizing, watering, pruning, spraying, and protecting to ensure that it grows healthy and produces fruit.

Our Christian lives are much the same. We too must cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in our lives so we can reflect the glory of God and the beauty of Christ. The same way you have to learn first about a tree, the fruit it produces, and how to keep it healthy, we also need to study God's Word to better understand the fruit of the Spirit and how it grows.

The word "fruit" is used throughout the bible to refer to evidence of what is on the inside of a person.

"Make a tree good and its fruits will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruits will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its FRUIT...the good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him". Matthew 12:33, 35

The fruit you are bearing are your words and your actions; they should demonstrate and portray to others the love of Christ.

The Apostle Paul lists the different fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control". All these nine fruits stand together and make up our walk with God. They are like a string of Christmas lights; there is one string with many lights that all light up at once when plugged into the electrical socket. But if one bulb goes out, the entire string goes out!

Try to remember your actions today...were any of these spiritual habits missing? We need to get plugged into the source again, God.
